Update! Today, January 10, I saw a variation of this new Image Gallery ad format.
Instead of thumbnail images and left and right arrow buttons, the ad contains a prettier version of the left and right scrollbars and a Slideshow button that, well, plays a slideshow of the images being advertised.

Call me whatever but it always excites me everytime I see a new ad format of Google Adsense. I previously wrote about the new ones I saw, including the four-button-ads-in-one unit, the new Times New Roman and Comic Sans fonts in the ad, and scrolling Adsense ads.
Yesterday, I saw an ad unit which does not seem to be a typical Adsense ad unit. I searched for it online but didn’t find information about it. The new ad is a mixture of the text, image, and scrolling ad formats, with thumbnail images which you can click on that enlarges each image. I call it the Adsense Image Gallery ad.
Here’s a screenshot of the ad unit I found at the PMT Forum.
Here are some characteristics of the ad:
- The advertisement was for golf and country club shares in some golf clubs in the Philippines. The thumbnail images on the left are pictures of the golf clubs whose shares are being advertised (e.g., Manila Southwoods, Baguio Country Club, Sta. Elena Country Club, etc.).
- Clicking on any of the six thumbnail images on the right shows an enlarged image of the golf club which appears to the right of the text “Club Shares for Sale.”
- The entire ad unit is not clickable. Only the link at the bottom-right leads to the site being advertised.
- The ad features a left-to-right scroller similar to the one in the Adsense ad scroller. There’s a left and right arrow which you can click on to the show the next item on the left and right, respectively.
