About Serenitea
The Philippine milk tea industry is still relatively young, primarily because milk tea is originally not a staple drink among Filipinos. The milk tea product is actually from the famous drink in Taiwan.
The owners and founders of Serenitea, couple Juliet Herrera and Peter Chen, had to spend almost a year in conceptualizing, researching, and planning to produce a milk tea product that fits and satisfies the Filipinos’ discerning taste. They borrowed P800,000 from their parents which they used as capital to start the business.
The owners took inspiration from the traditional method of steeping tea. They believed that this process conveys more passion and flavor to every cup of tea being served. To further customize the drink, adjustable sugar levels were added as an option to customers, as well as the introduction of “sinkers”, such as tapioca pearls, boba, grass jelly, red bean, pudding, and nata de coco.
On December 19, 2008, Serenitea opened its first outlet in Little Baguio, San Juan, Metro Manila. Ten years later, by 2018, Serenitea now has at least 50 stores all around the Philippines.
