Dress Code for RadTech & X-Ray Tech Examinees
Please note that all examinees are REQUIRED to wear the following attire during board exam days:
- Males – White polo shirt with collar (without any seal, logo, or mark); Decent pants or slacks.
- Females – White blouse or shirt with collar (without any seal, logo, or mark); Decent slacks or skirt.
What to Bring During the RadTech & X-Ray Tech Exam
Make sure you bring the following items with you during exam day:
- Notice of Admission (NOA)
- Official Receipt (OR)
- One (1) piece metered-stamped window mailing envelope
- Two (2) or more Pencils (No. 2)
- Ballpens with black ink (black ballpens) only
- One (1) piece long brown envelope
- One (1) piece long transparent plastic envelope (for safekeeping of valuables and other allowed items)
- Food – all examinees are required to bring with them snacks or meals placed inside a transparent plastic bag. No other person, including the proctors or room watchers, shall be allowed to give or distribute food to any examinee while the board exam is in progress.
NOTE: During the exam, candidates are not allowed to borrow anything or to communicate with other people taking the exam. Examinees are also not allowed to leave the room, so with regard to using the CR, make sure you go to the restroom right before taking the exam.
What NOT to Bring During the RadTech & X-Ray Tech Exam
Take note that the following items are NOT ALLOWED to be brought inside the exam room:
- Books, notes, review materials, and other printed materials containing coded data / information / formula;
- Programmable calculators;
- Smart watches, Cellphones, Bluetooth, ear plugs, transmitters, portable computers, and other electronic gadgets or devices which may be used for communication purposes;
- Bags of any kind (ladies bag, shoulder bags, attache case, backpacks, etc.);
- Other examination aids.

PRC Room Assignments: RadTech & X-Ray Tech Exam July 2019
If you see a “Now Available!” note beside the exam venue, it means the PRC already released the list for that province or city and you may now view the room assignment. If it is not yet available, the PRC is still finalizing the school and classroom details. We will update this post once the official Room Assignments are released.
Tips Before Taking the Board Exam
Here are additional useful tips we suggest you follow before the exam.
1. You’ll notice that even in just one school, several buildings and classrooms will be used as testing centers. To make sure that you proceed to the correct location, write down and take note of the exact Building, Classroom, and Seat Number assigned to you.
2. Before the day of the board exam, find out the address of the school or venue where you’ll be taking the exam. Research the actual location using Google Maps or a guide map to determine how to get there.
3. Better yet, try visiting the venue a few days before the board exam! Doing so will help you discover the best transportation or routes to take. If you simulate going to the venue beforehand, you’ll also have an idea how long it will take you to reach the exam center from your place. This allows you to change your transportation plans, if needed.
4. On the day of the exam, don’t be late! According to the PRC, examinees who will be late will NOT BE ALLOWED to take the board exam. We suggest you arrive at the exam venue at least one (1) hour before the start of the exam. This gives you enough time to locate the building, classroom, and seat number assigned to you.

Tips to Pass the RadTech & X-Ray Tech Exam
Do you want some tips to help you pass the Radiologic Technologist or X-Ray Technologist board exam?
Without a doubt, passing the RadTech or X-Ray Tech board exam requires tons of preparation, hard work, persistence, and determination. You will surely do your part. You will study long hours, read a lot of books, and answer hundreds of pages of reviewers. But do you want to hear other useful tips to help you pass the licensure exam?

Tip #1: Stop freaking out.
“Stress decreases your memory. So to decrease stress, simply put everything in perspective. This is just a test. Even if you do not pass the first time around, you still have a family who loves you, friends that support you, and hopefully a roof over your head. Since passing a test will not affect any of these things, you need not make it this gigantic impending thing.”
Tip #2: Study smarter, not harder.
“In retrospect, I could have saved tons of time and possibly even increased my test score by simply identifying the key subjects that I did not really understand. Instead of trying to memorize everything, I could have spent a bulk of my time, REALLY learning those topics.
If you really look at the sample exams and test prep books, they are only asking you the same basic questions in different ways. What I discovered is that when you ACTUALLY understand the underlying concepts (like the line-focus principle), you can significantly decrease study time. Why is this?
This is because when you fully understand a key concept, you are now able to effectively identify the correct answers. By fully learning the main concepts within radiography, the confusion begins to lessen and the study time begins to plummet.”
Tip #3: Clean up your diet months before the exam.
“I’ve heard stories of individuals going out the night before a big test to ‘have a few’ and inadvertently waking up the next morning with a massive hangover. This advice includes more than just alcohol though. This advice includes foods with high amounts of sugar (including sugar soft drinks), fried foods, sugar substitutes (like sweet’n low), and heavily processed foods (like white bread, pasta, and pizza).
The effect these foods have on your brain is they can cause a condition commonly known as brain inflammation or brain fog. Brain fog is best described as those times where everything in your head just seems muddy like you are trying to remember a word and no matter how hard you try you just can not think of it. For me, brain fog is when I am trying to write, and the words just are not able to come out.
For best results, don’t just clean up your diet the night before the big test but instead try a MONTH or at least the week before.”
Tip #4: Get enough sleep.
“Just like with the diet recommendation, I recommend sticking to a 7-8 hour sleep time, a good week or so before taking your board exam. Trust me on this, after about three good nights of sleep, your brain will feel like a well-oiled machine. You will be able to remember things that will even surprise you!”
Tip #5: Believe in yourself.
“Ok, so maybe you are not the best test taker in the world or maybe you have zero confidence. You have made it this far. You put up with all the mean, unhelpful techs at your clinical site, you passed all the required tests at your school, and you most of all put your life on hold for your radiography education. I simply want you to take a few moments to reflect on all you have achieved so far and begin to start to believe that you can do it!”
RadTech & X-Ray Tech Board Exam Requirements 2019
According to the PRC, to be eligible to take the Radiologic Technologist board exam, applicants are required to comply with and to submit the following:
- Graduate of a BS in a Radiologic Technology program in a CHED-recognized educational institution
- Birth Certificate issued by the Philippine Statistics Office (PSA), formerly NSO
- Marriage Contract, for married female applicants, issued by the Philippine Statistics Office (PSA), formerly NSO
- Transcript of Records with scanned picture and Remarks “For Board Examination Purposes” (for first-time takers and repeaters)
- One (1) Certificate of Good Moral Character issued by any of the following: Barangay, School, Church,or Employer
- Required exam fee of P900.00 for first-time takers and P450.00 for conditional / removal examinees.
Difference between RadTech & X-Ray Technicians
In the Philippines, Radiologic Technologists and X-Ray Technologists pretty much perform similar responsibilities. Both of them are involved in:
- Performing imaging of the human body using state of the art and powerful imaging instruments or x- ray equipments for diagnosis or treatment of diseases;
- Assessing a patient’s condition with a clear understanding of human anatomy and physiology, pathology, medical terminology and apply radiographic techniques and procedures with a high degree of accuracy to produce optimal radiographic images for accurate interpretation;
- Utilizing and maintaining knowledge of radiation protection and safety to prevent unnecessary radiation exposure of the patient during x-ray examination.
Of course, there are still slight differences on the types of tasks and responsibilities they perform. Specifically:
X-Ray Technologist – a healthcare professional responsible for the technical application of x-rays in the diagnosis of diseases and injuries in Diagnostic Radiography, Fluoroscopy, and Mammography.
Radiologic Technologist – a healthcare professional involved in the technical application of radiation such as x-rays, beta rays, gamma rays, ultrasound and radiofrequency in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases in the following areas of Radiography and Fluoroscopy:
- Diagnostic Radiology
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
- Computed Tomography
- Mammography
- Interventional Radiology
- Nuclear Medicine
- Ultrasonography
- Radiation Therapy
- Lithotripsy for kidney stones
- Bone densitometry
