'No Classes' announcement – August 9 and 10, 2012
Several schools, colleges, and universities within and outside Metro Manila have already announced that classes have been suspended on August 9, 2012 (Thursday) and August 10, 2012 (Friday).
On August 9, some schools — including Claret School in Quezon City, Xavier School in Greenhills, San Juan, and De La Salle University in Taft, Manila — already said that there will be no more classes this week and will resume on Monday, August 13.

Citibank scandal: Did Francis Bryan Ang steal the money or not?
Last week, Citibank Philippines reported that one of its private banking officers have gone missing and allegedly carted with him hundreds of millions of pesos worth of depositors’ money.
Francis Bryan Ang, an Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Citibank Binondo’s Citigold Wealth Management Group, is said to have stolen at least P100 million of his clients’ money. Another news report place the total amount allegedly stolen between P600 million and P1 billion.

The hostage crisis ended tragically after a SWAT team assaulted a bus full of mostly Chinese tourists from Hong Kong, resulting in the death of the hostage taker and nine (9) hostages.

You’ve probably seen that moving video of a woman on the roof of her car during the flood in UERM, Sta. Mesa Manila.
Less-talked about, however, is the man on the same video hanging onto a coconut tree while the cars around him swirl and get drowned.
And there’s one gripping photo of what seems to be a dead body of a woman in Marikina still lying on the street a day after the typhoon hit their area.
These are just some of the unfortunate stories brought by Typhoon Ondoy which devastated parts of Metro Manila, particularly, Marikina, Pasig, and Rizal.
