Thousands of Filipinos have been confirmed dead and some more missing in the aftermath of Typhoon Yolanda (international codename: Haiyan), arguably the strongest tropical cyclone ever to hit landfall. The official and accurate figures as regards the casualties are still changing, but what’s clear is that thousands now need help in order to get back to their feet and, for some, just to survive.
